SWITZERLAND SCIENCE CERN HIGGS
epa03294844 An undated handout computer genenrated image provided by CERN shows the 'typical candidate' event, including two high-energy photons whose energy (depicted by red towers) is measured in the CMS electromagnetic calorimeter. The yellow lines are the measured tracks of other particles produced in the collision. The pale blue volume shows the CMS crystal calorimeter barrel. ATLAS and CMS experiments presented their latest preliminary results in the search for the long sought Higgs particle in a press conference at the CERN in Geneva, Switzerland, 04 July 2012. Both experiments observe a new particle in the mass region around 125-126 GeV. The results presented have been labelled as preliminary. They are based on data collected in 2011 and 2012, with the 2012 data still under analysis. EPA/CERN HANDOUT MANDATORY CREDIT HANDOUT EDITORIAL USE ONLY/NO SALES
